DUHTROIT x La Ventana: “2025 Creator Mingle”

Despite a snowstorm that blanketed Detroit and caused serious transportation setbacks, nothing could stop the city’s creative spirit from shining. On a wintry day in 2025, La Ventana Cafe in Eastern Market opened its doors to host DUHTROIT’s latest gallery showcase and our first-ever “2025 Creator Mingle.” Even with icy roads and swirling snow, artists, photographers, and supporters braved the elements—filling the cozy café to capacity and proving once again that Detroiters come together no matter the forecast.

A New Home for DUHTROIT’s Photos

La Ventana Cafe is known for its curated selection of local artwork, and we were thrilled to add several of DUHTROIT’s photos to their collection. The pieces reflect the essence of our publication: highlighting Detroit’s energy, grit, and creativity. Whether it’s a shot of street art, an intimate portrait, or an abstract perspective of city landmarks, each photo contributes to a vibrant narrative that resonates with local coffee lovers and travelers alike.

Launching with a Mingle

To celebrate this new partnership, we decided to host the “2025 Creator Mingle,” a casual gathering aimed at uniting Detroit’s diverse network of creatives. From photographers to illustrators, musicians to poets, the crowd was eclectic and representative of the city’s boundless talent. Conversations flowed freely over steaming lattes and sweet treats, and it wasn’t long before the café was buzzing with collaboration ideas and fresh inspiration.

Overcoming the Snow

A Detroit winter can be daunting, but the icy conditions and heavy snowfall only seemed to fuel the determination of those who attended. People arrived wrapped in layers and dripping with melted snow, ready to engage, connect, and celebrate. The sense of camaraderie was unmistakable—everyone understood that showing up in a storm is part of what makes a Detroit community event so special.

A Packed House

By midday, La Ventana Cafe was packed, with guests squeezing in for warm drinks, good vibes, and a closer look at DUHTROIT’s newly installed photos. Laughter and conversation filled the space, and the energy in the room felt like a collective high-five to the city’s unbreakable spirit.

Looking Ahead

In the midst of the swirling snow and steaming coffee cups, it was clear that the event was more than a gallery launch—it was a celebration of Detroit’s resilience and unity. As we continue to expand DUHTROIT’s presence throughout the city, we’re reminded that art thrives where people come together, share their passions, and support one another through thick and thin (or snow and ice).

Thank you to everyone who made the journey to La Ventana despite the weather. Your support, energy, and unwavering dedication to creativity are the backbone of DUHTROIT’s mission. We can’t wait to share our next steps—and next storm-tested adventure—with all of you.

Stay tuned for upcoming gallery installations, community events, and ways to be part of DUHTROIT’s mission to showcase and uplift the Motor City’s incredible talent.
